Workshop | Art+Feminism: Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon 2024

Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong is organising an event to help improve the representation of women and non-binary artists on Wikipedia through a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, on 2 March 2024, 2–5:30pm.

Art+Feminism: Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2024 brings participants together to discuss, create, and improve Wikipedia articles about women and non-binary artists and makers from Asia. Organised with the assistance of Wikimedia Community User Group in Hong Kong, this event is part of Art+Feminism – an international initiative that strives to close information gaps related to gender, feminism, and the arts. This event is part of AAA and M+’s ongoing effort to contribute to discussions about the representation of art and visual culture in Asia on open-source knowledge platforms.

AAA presents two Wikipedia Edit-a-thons each year. Aligned with Art+Feminism, the March Edit-a-thon gathers participants to create, edit, and enrich Wikipedia articles about women artists in and from Asia. The November Edit-a-thon coincides with Wikipedia Asian Month, and focuses on exhibitions, art schools, and collectives in and about Asia to enrich art histories in this region.

The event is free and open to the public with registration. The event welcomes anyone interested in learning about editing Wikipedia to attend, regardless of experience or background.
