Festival/Tokyo F/T 2019
Festival/Tokyo F/T 2019 runs October 5 - November 10 and features artists and companies from Japan, South Korea, China, Poland, Laos, Malaysia, and more. For its 12th edition, F/T brings together an interdisciplinary and international lineup of 12 artists and more than 15 events or productions on the theme of “Body Speed.” The 'Transfield from Asia' program showcases the latest performing and visual arts from Southeast Asia.
Presenting a wide and exciting range of contemporary stage performances, Festival/Tokyo (F/T) explores new social possibilities for art. Launched in 2009 and held every autumn mainly in the Ikebukuro area of Tokyo, the festival features a program of theatre, dance, music, visual art, and film by cutting-edge artists from Japan and around the world.
As part of the festival, a program “Transfield from Asia” will be co-organized by the Japan Foundation Asia Center from Oct.25-Nov.10. “Transfield from Asia” is the successor of the “Asia Series” launched in 2014, which was organized as a showcase of arts from a different nations each year. In 2018, F/T replaced “Asia Series” to emphasize the overall “transfield” nature of the region, whereby the borders between nations and disciplines are constantly fusing and dissolving.
This program introduces the latest performing arts and visual arts in Asia, constantly fusing and dissolving nations and disciplines and holds talk events inviting guests based in #Southeast Asia.
