The Annual Chiang Mai Design Awards (CDA) by Chiang Mai Creative City (CMCC) is an initiative that aims to promote innovation and creativity across a range of design categories. The initiative was launched during the Nimmanhaemin Art and Design Promenade (NAP) in December 2011, and the winners of CDA 2012 were announced on the 3rd of May 2012. From 16 January to 3 February 2013, this exhibition will showcase a selection of design ranging from products, to retail design and environmental design, at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). The main benefits of the CDA is exposure, support with exports, and increased opportunity to enter other awards (in Asia and overseas). Selected entrepreneurs may also receive support to further develop their products. Such support can come in the form of skill/design development, export and R&D, as offered by a number of member organisations such as the Thailand Creative Design Center (TCDC), Technology Development Centre for Industry (TDCI), Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) Northern Office.
