State Fund For The Support And Development Of Cinematography

The State Fund of the Czech Republic for Support and Development of the Czech Cinematography (hereinafter referred to as the “Fund”) is a tool of the public support of film making (screenplay writing, film production and distribution) and technical development and modernisation of cinemas. The Fund also participates in co-financing cinematography promotion projects, e.g. festivals, meetings, showcases abroad etc. The Fund was established pursuant to Act No. 241/1992 Coll., and is headed by the Minister of Culture. The body deciding on the method and amount of financial means drawn for individual projects is the Fund Board.

The main financial resources of the Fund are revenues from commercial utilisation of the films to which the Fund exercises producer's copyrights (i.e. films produced in the Film Studio Barrandov and Film Studio Gottwaldov or Zlín and put into distribution in the period between 1 January 1965 and 31 December 1991) and levies on surcharge to the cinema admission fee.
