Encontros da Imagem Festival in Braga, Portugal is pleased to announce an OPEN CALL for Self published books for the festival's PhotoBooks Market in order to celebrate photography and encourage self-publishing and artist books.

The Festival invite you to submit your photobook dummie for the Photobook market and exhibition in September 2014 and the shortlisted books will be a part of the Photobook market.

We are keen to receive hand-made, self-published, limited edition photobooks, artist books, commercially published and book dummies from all over the world!

Submitting your book to the contest is completely free!

Recognizing the increasing importance of the Photo book, our purpose is to show original and interesting books in a public display exhibition/market.

A selection of shortlisted dummies will be part of the exhibition in Braga, as well as featured online. The photo books will receive a special online feature promoting the books on the Encontros da Imagem website. Also this exhibition will give you an opportunity to promote your book to an internationally recognized public.

Deadline to submit Photobooks: 12 September

Please note the rules and conditions:

1. All types of photo book are qualified for the open call, whether self-published, handmade, or commercially published. Books that feature Works by various artists/photographers are also qualified for submission.

2. Encontros da Imagem cannot guarantee the condition of the books at the time the exhibition/market ends.

3. To prevent theft, the books will be displayed in a way that may leave them unfit for selling afterwards. (pierced)

4. Authors accepted into this exhibition/market will have the choice of donationg the book to Encontros da Imagem Archive or have the book returned.

The Photo Book Market opens on the 18th of September, at the opening party of Encontros da Imagem 2014 at Arquivo Janes, Braga, Portugal, Rua de Janes.
