The 8th Yangon Photo Festival « Eyewitness: Myanmar by Myanmar Photographers » takes place March 12-31, 2016. Since 2008, the Yangon Photo Festival has trained a whole new generation of Myanmar photographers to visual storytelling. Under the patronage of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, it has become one of the largest international yearly events in Myanmar. More than 400 young men and women from all ethnic origins have participated to its intensive training programs. As they are now working with local and international media and organizations, their work is also being recognized on the international art scene by participating and winning prizes in festivals such as DIPE in China, Bangkok Biennale or Les Rencontres d’Arles. The 8th edition will give the former laureates free rein to show the challenges confronting their country. Created in 2009 by the French Institute (formerly Alliance Française), the Yangon Photo Festival is an opportunity to exhibit in Myanmar (Burma) some of the best works produced around the world and train young photographers.
