The 3rd edition of the Biennale Internationale des Arts du Cirque (BIAC) takes place in southern France, across 40 cities in the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region from 11 January to 10 February 2019. As part of BIAC, Archaos – Pôle National Cirque  - is organizing six days of professional forum dedicated to those working in the cultural sector: from Tuesday 22nd to Sunday 27th January 2019.

From 22 to 27 January 2019: PROGRAM FOR THE PROFESSIONAL FORUM
—6 days dedicated to professionals from the cultural sector—

In 2017, 234 cultural professionals from 34 different national backgrounds participated in this not-to-be missed professional forum. The 2019 edition will once again offer opportunities for professional development, for networking, for sharing experiences, for discovering new creations, and for imagining and building the circus of tomorrow. The forum includes options to participate in a selection of discovery tours featuring different performances and venues.

The 2019 Biennale Internationale des Arts du Cirque offers 272 performances of 65 different shows, including 30 premières. With a growing number of partners, the entire Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region will come alive to the rhythm of the circus. More than 40 cities will host events, from Arles to Nice, from Briançon to Martigues, from Gap to Grasse, and at twelve different sites in the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis.

The Biennale Internationale des Arts du Cirque (BIAC) is quickly becoming an essential event for circus professionals from around the world and it plays a key role in developing the international contemporary circus scene, while also contributing to the economic activity of our territory.

One of the main attractions for audiences during the first two editions of the biennale was the Tent Village in Marseille. This will installation, located beside the sea, will once again be the heart of the event. At this remarkable site, you will be able to see the Welsh artists NoFit State Circus who were such a smash hit during the 2015 edition alongside seven other French and international companies who will present their latest creations.

Two other special tents will be erected at the Théâtre du Centaure in Marseille: the Silo tent, a curious stage construction developed for an original creation by the  Compagnie Les Choses de Rien and Théâtre du Centaure's black tent that will be home to their latest creation.

Raphaël Navarro and the 14:20 company are a driving force behind the Magie Nouvelle [New Magic] movement that is embracing an artistic approach that bewilders the senses and distorts reality.  We offered this artist a carte blanche to create showcase of the very best from this new domain, with his creations and those of other artists, which will be featured at the Friche Belle de Mai, at the MuCEM, and the La Criée theatre in Marseille.

The circus, which is at the vanguard of artistic innovation, is adopting new technologies, notably with the "Mirages et Miracle" exhibition by Adrien M. and Claire B that will be at the Cité du Livre in Aix-en-Provence for one month; other creations featuring new technologies will also be featured throughout the biennale.
