Digital Art and Culture Festival 2011 | Penang

The
DA+C Festival is a contemporary festival aiming at positioning Penang as the Creative Digital Hub of South-East Asia. Using
George Town's World Heritage Site environment, the event blends cultural traditions with the latest communication technologies. This approach also seeks to bridge the gap between young and old generations, and thus build stronger communities.
This year's edition includes a large number of interventions such as
interactive installations,
audiovisual mapping,
talks, and
workshops in which
creatives from local areas and beyond will gather. The events will take place at
Suffolk House, an Anglo-Indian Georgian House that took seven years to restore and received a distinction from the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Culture Heritage Preservation in 2008.
The festival is co-organized by
Badan Warisan Malaysia (Heritage of Malaysia Trust) and
re-cap.org a design collective that promotes cultural heritage and social responsibility. It is scheduled within the framework of the
George Town Festival 2011, a month-long celebration of George Town's inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
