Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre

Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre is a multi-functional contemporary art and culture centre in Daugavpils Fortress. It is the only place in Eastern Europe that gives the opportunity to get acquainted with the original works of Mark Rothko, as well as exhibitions by Latvian and foreign artists in the exhibition space of over 2,000 m2. 

Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre has 10 guest rooms and offers a programme of art residencies. For those artists, designers, architects, experts, curators and managers of art history, theory or criticism from Latvian and foreign countries there are special discounts. Representatives of creative industries are provided with:

  • painting studio (110 m2, equipped with 15 standing easels);
  • graphics and textile workshop (50 m2, equipped with etching machine, sewing machine, overlock, ironing board, shelves and tables for graphics);
  • two multi-functional workshops (50 m2).

The Art Centre partners with important art biennales, international symposia and residencies in Latvia, offering opportunities for artists and creative professionals from abroad to engage with the centre
