Asolo Art Film Festival primary mission is to raise public awareness, knowledge and appreciation of the arts by promoting artists and professionals from around the cinema and audiovisual landscape. The festival encourages the film industry, both nationally and internationally, to increase its annual production of films related to the topics of art, with the main purpose of giving credit and visibility to work that has no place in the distribution and broadcast in television industry.

The festival combines cinema exhibitions with theatre performances, musical events, and meetings with actors/ filmmakers. The competition section of the festival is divided into 7 categories:
