Switzerland | Textile and Design Alliance Artist in Residence 2025

TaDA – Textile and Design Alliance is calling for applications from artists and creatives from all disciplines for their Artist in Residence Programme in Arbon, Switzerland, from either April to June 2025 or September to November 2025.

TaDA is a cultural promotion programme. Its goal is to promote artistic dialogue with the eastern Swiss textile and design culture and thus strengthen the regional identity. TaDA annually offers 6 national and international applicants a work residency in Switzerland. The residents develop projects in the fields of art, design, architecture, literature, performing arts, or in interdisciplinary contexts.

As programme partners, textile companies and institutions from Eastern Switzerland provide know-how and technology. This gives the residents the opportunity to carry out practical artistic work and applied research. The partners, in turn, count on creative exchange with the invitees. The work results are presented to the public at various events.

The residency is aimed at artists and creatives from all disciplines with a demonstrated interest in the textile industry, textile culture, and sustainability. Basic technical knowledge of textile production is an advantage. Projects with a pronounced experimental approach are particularly welcome. The connection to the TaDA partners must be included in the project drafts. Good knowledge of English or German is required

What is provided:

  • Apartment in Arbon
  • Workspace in the former textile and engine factory Saurer AG (3 minutes from the apartment)
  • Travel costs
  • Contribution to living expenses (2,000 CHF/month)
  • Professional advice and exchange with 13 partner companies and organisations, selective use of their infrastructure
