New Settings 2022 programme calll

With its annual New Settings programme, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès supports the creation and distribution of new performance works. The programme aims to support hybrid performances which have a leading visual dimension. The selected projects are unexpected, leaving room for daring and experimentation, still communicating with global contemporary trends.

Through the annual New Settings programme, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès accompanies the creation of new performance works from their production and rehearsal stages through to their public presentation. The projects selected for New Settings all go beyond the beaten track in some way: by playing upon original combinations of different artistic practices and mediums, New Settings artists experiment with unconventional forms to expand the possibilities of the performing arts.

The New Settings programme is open to emerging and more established French and international artists. It supports hybrid performing arts projects rooted in potent dialogue with the visual and/or digital arts. The programme supports productions exploring innovative audience engagement and interaction, at the crossroads of artistic vocabularies and disciplines. Often, the supported projects take a fresh approach to the theatrical environment, developing new ways to make use of the space of the stage, objects, sound and the body

In response to the Covid-19 health crisis, a special attention will be given to lighter, more mobile and dynamic scenic propositions with an important potential to evolve, should these constitute a significant stage in the creation of a larger and more developed body of work. These types of proposals, also in line with visual arts, should be considered by the artist(s) as work that can be presented to the general public.

In practical terms, support from the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès is targeted in two stages:

  • The selected projects will receive a production aid.

  • The Fondation d'entreprise Hermès will support the staging of the project during one of the key moments of the New Settings' programme taking place during the 2022-2023 season, in association with partners in the Paris region.

Deadline: 1 July 2021
