CARTOON Springboard is a new pitching event for young talents from Europe, taking place in Valenciennes, France on 04 – 06 Dec 18. A call is open for the pitching sessions till October 5. Registration to attend CARTOON Springboard is open till November 12.

CARTOON Springboard is a new pitching event where young talents of European animation schools will be able to pitch their project in front of a panel of experts from the audiovisual world. New pitching event and project-based seminar aimed at helping New Talents who have completed their education to improve and accelerate their access to the audiovisual and digital markets.

The 3 day-event will focus on 2 parts:

  • Presentations given by experts on market trends, buyers' expectations, etc.
  • Pitching sessions of young talents projects, including an interactive discussion with a panel of experts

Who can present a project?

• European young talents who want to develop and test their new animation project or property for the international market and/or to be distributed on several screens (360 approach).

• Young talents who have graduated from animation schools for a maximum of 5 years.

What kind of project?

• a TV Special (minimum 26 minutes)

• a TV series • a feature film (minimum 60 minutes)

• an animated project dedicated to cross-media

• short films are NOT accepted

DEADLINE for submissions for pitching session: 5 October 2018

DEADLINE for registration to attend CARTOON Springboard (for those not presenting a pitch project): 12 November 2018

SCHOLARSHIP: If you are a citizen of one of the following countries (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria,  Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic,  Estonia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Serbia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tunisia & Ukraine), you may benefit from a scholarship in order to participate at Cartoon Springboard. 

Cartoon SPRINGBOARD was devised and created by CARTOON, an international non-profit association based in Brussels. CARTOON’s remit is to support the European animation industry and for more than 25 years, it has received financial support from the Creative Europe/MEDIA Programme of the European Union to run its activities, which concentrate on four areas:

CARTOON FORUM: a co-production forum for animated (mainly television) series. The Cartoon Forum (over 950 participants) takes place annually in September in Toulouse;

CARTOON MOVIE: a co-production forum for feature-length animation, mainly for the cinema. Cartoon Movie (over 850 participants) takes place in March in Bordeaux;

CARTOON MASTERS: four training seminars each year for European professionals in the industry (about 100 participants per session), dealing with specialised subjects affecting the development of the skills and trade involved in animation;

CARTOON CONNECTION: events intended to explore ways of reinforcing cooperation between EU and non-EU animation professionals, mainly from Canada and South Korea.
