Entering its 8th year, Asian Film Academy is looking for young talented Asian filmmakers. AFA 2012 will be held for 17 days in September to October. The submission deadline is 30 April 2012, participants will be announced 10 July 2012.

Asian Film Academy is an educational program consisting of short-film productions, workshops, master class, and mentoring with prominent Asian filmmakers. This program will offer the young filmmakers an opportunity to share the filmmaking practice and philosophy with the film masters. The various learning experiences will bring the selected 24 fellows to the future of Asian cinema.

Since the launch of Asian Film Academy in 2005, AFA has concentrated on nurturing new Asian talent in cinema by providing the collaboration field for the young Asian filmmakers. Prominent Asian directors, such as KUROSAWA Kiyoshi, HOU Hsiao Hsien, IM Kwon-taek, Mohsen MAKHMALBAF have joined the Asian Film Academy as Dean. Last year, a world-renowned filmmaker, Abbas KIAROSTAMI was invited as the dean of AFA 2010. Under the guidance of the faculty consisting of outstanding Asian filmmakers and Korean experts from filmmaking field, AFA 2011 will offer a valuable time to appreciate the fruit of collaboration and the new potential for the network of Asian filmmakers that transcends the difference in language and culture.
