Shortlist Annoucements

Proposals for ASEF’s Creative Networks and Creative Encounters programmes have been shortlisted this month, following a thorough review of the submitted proposals. 

For ASEF Creative Networks 3rd Edition, 5 proposals have been shortlisted from 22 submissions. For Creative Encounters 5th Edition, 5 creative proposals have been shortlisted from 75 submissions. The selection of shortlisted projects was conducted in partnership with Arts Network Asia (ANA) and with the support of Trans Europe Halles (TEH).

The shortlisted applicants have been requested to submit a detailed proposal by Tuesday, 1 December 2015. Successful applicants will be notified in January 2016.

ASEF Creative Networks 3rd edition (2015-16) – Shortlisted Projects

  1. Creative Entrepreneurs Ecosystem Development
    A comparative study of eco-systems for Cultural Entrepreneurs in Asia and Europe with a focus on 7-8 cities followed by conferences.
    Partners: Southeast Asia Creative Cities Network (Thailand), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of  Connective Cities (Germany)

  2. Eurasian Creaspace Networking
    A platform and a forum to promote creative industries between Europe and the Mekong region, focusing on small scale creative spaces as case studies.
    Partners: Culture Industry Institute, Yunnan University (China), Econcult, University of Valencia (Spain)

  3. Greater-Mekong Hub for Cultural Changemakers
    A series of leadership programmes to promote emerging creative entrepreneurs and young arts leaders in the Mekong region and Europe.
    Partners: Salzburg Global Seminar (Austria), Cambodian Living Arts (Cambodia)

  4. Impact Workshop Southeast Asia
    Capacity building workshops for documentary filmmakers in Southeast Asia with a focus on impact and outreach strategies.
    Partners: British Council Indonesia (Indonesia), In-Docs (Indonesia), BRITDOC Foundation (United Kingdom)

  5. SAFF Forum
    A Forum for producers to promote co-production of films between Asia and Europe.
    Partners: Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (Singapore), EAVE – European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (Luxembourg)

Creative Encounters 5th edition (2015-16) – Shortlisted Projects

  1. Artback NT – Raise the Crew – Hip Hop
    A series of dance workshops with a focus on community engagement in Australia, Cambodia and Finland.
    Partners: Artback NT (Australia), URB Festival (Finland), Tracks Dance Company (Australia), Tiny Toones (Cambodia)

  2. Asiatopia 2016
    Performing arts festival with a focus on documenting oral histories of artists in relation to the contribution of artists & creativity to the social fabric of their respective communities.
    Partners: Concrete House (Thailand), Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (Thailand), ASABANK (Germany)

  3. Link the Worlds
    A literary festival and capacity building workshops for translators and writers from Asia and Europe in Yangon, Myanmar.
    Partners: PEN Myanmar, Penguin publishing House (Myanmar), Writers’ Centre Norwich (United Kingdom), The Select Centre (Singapore)

  4. Samdani Seminars 2016
    A series of workshops with Asian & European artists focusing on marginalised communities in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
    Partners: Protisruti (Bangladesh), Samdani Art Foundation (Bangladesh), Polish Institute, New Delhi (India), Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (Poland)

  5. Ulaanbaatar Media Art Festival
    An arts festival with focus on film, new media, photography, sound and fashion in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Participating artists from Asia and Europe will address in particular questions of urban versus nomadic civilisation, tradition & modernity and gender inequality.
