Myanmar: Opening of National Museum, Nay Pyi Taw

Opening of National Museum Nay Pyi Taw 1 Opening of National Museum Nay Pyi Taw 2 The National Museum of Myanmar (Nay Pyi Taw), an ASEMUS member, opened its doors to the public for the first time on 15 July 2015. This initial opening, or 'soft opening' is the first step in a longer-term process, since the whole Museum will be open in March 2016. The building of the National Museum was under construction since 2010. 7 of the National Museum's 20 planned exhibition rooms can be visited as of now. They include the President's Gifts exhibition room, the Primates and Fossils exhibition room, the Prehistoric period exhibition room, the Proto-historic period exhibition room, the Historic period exhibition room, the Myanmar Arts exhibition room and the Myanmar Performing Arts exhibition room. Entrance to the museum was free during the first month following the soft opening. An entrance fee of 5000 kyats applies for foreigners.
