Museum Rietberg is looking for a Curator of Japanese Art (Zurich)

Museum Rietberg Japanese Curator Museum Rietberg, Zurich, Switzerland, an ASEMUS member, has recently advertised for the post of curator of Japanese art (part-time, 60%). Responsibilities of the post include the following:
  • Design and preparation of special exhibitions
  • Curatorial care of the Japanese collection
  • Development of the collection
  • Contacts with collectors, museums, universities, research institutions and funders
  • Development of networks and international cooperation with Japanese museums and universities
  • Dissemination of specialised knowledge, through guided tours, lectures and articles
  • Collection-related research, including history of the collection and, if necessary, field research for acquisition and collection.
Candidatures should fulfil the following criteria:
  • University degree (PhD) in Japanese studies or East Asian art history
  • Good knowledge of Japanese culture and related scientific achievements (publications, research visits or fieldwork)
  • Experience in museum and exhibition management
  • Good international connections
  • Knowledge of German, English and Japanese
  • Structured approach, creativity and organisational and coordinating skills
  • Teamwork, communication skills and willingness to cooperate
  • Very good general IT skills
