ICHCAP Call: 2018 Cultural Partnership Initiative Program

The International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (ICHCAP), a centre under the auspices of UNESCO, has launched the 2018 call for applications under the Cultural Partnership Initiative (CPI) Program, aimed at young professionals in the area of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) from the Asia-Pacific region. The CPI Program is a five-month residential programme from July to November with an aim to promote bilateral cultural exchanges through Korean cultural experiences and specialized training. In this context, ICHCAP will welcome the participation of four ICH professionals of the Asia-Pacific region. Candidates should have at least three years' experience in ICH or a related field, and fluent in English. The four selected participants will have an opportunity to engage in an international cooperation project and carry out an individual research project related to using ICH information and enhancing network building. In addition, the participants will be able to strengthen their capacity through field trips to ICH-related organizations in the Republic of Korea and ICH lectures. Additional programmes include cultural workshops and a Korean language course. ICHCAP’s CPI Program is focused on building a long-term expert network to share information in the Asia-Pacific region and to continually use the network. ICHCAP plans to enhance communication with domestic and/or international ICH organizations and NGOs to expand opportunities for cooperation, through various means that involve the participants conducting intensive study, participating in ICH practices, and delivering a mutual exchange for information. This year’s CPI Program is under the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea (MCST) and the CPI Secretariat (Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange) with ICHCAP as an operating organization. Launched in 2012, the programme has been successful during its operation. And ICHCAP hopes to contribute to enhance expert networks for ICH information.sharing in the Asia-Pacific region while also seeking opportunities to create relationships for long-term project partners.
