The Cité de la Céramique in Sèvres  in Paris will be organising in 2015 an important exhibition in two phases, to celebrate the year of Korea in France.

The first phase running until 20 July 2015, will introduce traditional Korean art through the figure of Victor Collin de Plancy (1853-1922), a French diplomat who established diplomatic ties with Korea. Spending thirteen years of his life in Korea, he gathered numerous artifacts. The exhibition will present photographs, paintings, furniture and a unique group of Korean ceramics spanning from the first to the eighteenth century and held in several French national collections. Most of the pieces exhibited will be showcased for the very first time.

The second part of the exhibition, starting in May and running till 4 January 2016, will introduce the work of two contemporary Korean female artists in ceramics and glass.

KIM Yik-Yung (born 1935) who enjoys a great reputation as a ceramist in Korea and is renowned for casting bridges between cultural heritage and contemporary practices and techniques. KIM Yeeun-Kyung (born 1970) who currently lives in France and teaches since 2009 in the glass section of the Decorative Arts School of Strasbourg. Her work will explore how glass techniques can flourish in the field of contemporary art and design.
