Lahore Biennale Foundation
The Lahore Biennale Foundation (LBF) is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide critical sites for experimentation in the visual arts. LBF focuses on the many stages of production, display and reception of contemporary art in diverse forms. Inclusivity, collaboration and public-engagement are central to our vision and we are committed to developing the potential of art as an agent of social transformation.
In 2018, the LBF hosted its flagship event – the Lahore Biennale 01 (LBO1) from 18 – 31 March, attended by over 1.5 million people. The LBO1 showcased over 80 artworks by more than 75 participating artists and produced a range of public programs, including public lectures, panel discussions, art-making workshops targeting school children and young adults, and performing art events.
In addition to providing free public programming to the arts, LBF also endeavors to support art projects across Pakistan. The Research Unit Initiative for instance, aims to foster research capacities at the individual, collective and institutional level.
