International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC)

The International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC) is a worldwide network of organisations working on a non-profit basis to promote and document the music of our time. Each member-organisation focuses on the music of its own country or region. Most cover all genres from contemporary and classical music to jazz, rock, popular music, world music and other forms, while some centres focus on a particular musical field. The IAMIC aims at becoming the foremost global network that facilitates the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of music documentation, promotion and information, leading to an increased international cooperation, performance and use of repertoire of music of all genres.

It is IAMIC's task as the umbrella body to raise the public profile of these key cultural operators and increase access to the rich resources they offer. IAMIC acknowledges the importance of sharing and optimizing knowledge, expertise and knowhow. In this respect its activities provide an international context for its members, enabling the provision of services and encouraging collaborations, exchanges and partnerships.

IAMIC has a major role in building bridges between its members, creating networking opportunities and supporting and enhancing the visibility of projects that underline the objective of IAMIC: create an international landscape where pathways to information on music continually enhanced to provide users with the highest possible level of access.

Every year, IAMIC organizes a major conference, hosted in a different country to ensure that most of its members will be able to participate as often as possible. This conference is a benchmark for information sharing and allows the promotion of an international music community. These conferences are often the starting point for a variety of cross border projects, aiming to promote national musical culture abroad.

This year's IAMIC Annual Meeting, General Assembly & Conference will take place in Basel, Switzerland from 11 to 15 September 2015 hosted by the organisation Fondation SUIS. The IAMIC Annual Meeting 2015 will coincide with the first edition of ZeitRäume Basel Festival "Contemporary Music & Architecture" which will take place from 10 to 13 September 2015.

IAMIC is funded by the Culture Programme of the EU and by the Flemish Authorities as well as by membership subscriptions.
