Lahore's rich cultural and literary milieu of teaching, scholarship and creative writing forms the ideal background for the School of Liberal Arts which comprises of three Departments offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses.

Students entering university for the first time may select either the BA (Hons) Liberal Arts programme offered by the Department of Literatures and Languages, pursue a professional BA (Hons.) degree at the Department of Theatre, Film and TV Studies or read for an MA Literature in English or an MA (Applied Linguistics) degree at the Department of English Literature and Language.

BNU is the first institution in Pakistan to offer a comprehensive professional program in the area of the performing arts which introduces students to new and innovative modes of studying literary, dramatic and technical production in cultural studies, theatre, TV and film.
