Trans Artists knowledge centre on artist-in-residence opportunities presents a special Focus on Indonesia with profiles of residencies and artists groups, interviews and Indonesian stories.

Trans Artists is based in the Netherlands and provides a wide range of information and up to date opportunities for artists residencies worldwide.

The Focus on Indonesia newsletter includes:

  • interview with Ade Darmawan of Ruangrupa artists initiative, celebrating its 10th anniversary

  • reports from Dutch, Belgian and Indonesian artists in residence in Yogyakarta and Bali

In Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Trans Artists, in collaboration with Cemeti Art House, organised a workshop for young artists on artists in residence. During this day they gave insights how the artists (and their art, writings or curatorial practices) can benefit the most from this experience and presented several residency models as an alternative ways for artists to gain new insight into the idea of making art.   The Trans Artists mobile helpdesk, run by staffmember Lotte Geeven was located in Indonesia this Autumn. During her residency at Cemeti in Yogyakarta she offered advice and guidance for free to local and visiting artists.
