La MaMa Umbria International 2023 summer workshops for theatre professionals

La MaMa Umbria International is calling for applications from professional theatre practitioners and playwrights for their summer workshop programme, from 10 July to 3 September 2023, in Umbria, Italy.

The organisation provides artists from around the world with residency programmes and intensive workshops. For nearly 25 years, La MaMa Umbria has fostered cross-cultural and international exchanges and creative collaborations.

24th Annual La MaMa Umbria International Symposium for Directors

Session 1: 10–24 July 2023

Session 2: 25 July – 8 August 2023

During the two two-week sessions, directors will take workshops with distinguished, internationally renowned directors, visit Spoleto and other Umbrian cultural sites.

Accommodation, meals, and local transport are included in the fee of 3,000 EUR.

The 2023 Master Artists include Dmitry Krymov (Founder, Krymov Lab – Russia), Shahid Nadeem (Artistic Director, Ajoka Theatre – Lahore, Pakistan), Ong Keng Sen (Founder/Artistic Director TheatreWorks - Singapore), and Thomas Ostermeier (Artistic Director, Schaubühne Theatre - Berlin).

17th Annual La MaMa Umbria International Playwright Retreat

10–20 August 2023

During the 10-day programme, playwrights will participate in workshops with a Master Playwright, have time to work on their own writing and share with other participants. Playwrights may visit Spoleto and other Umbrian cultural sites.

Accommodation, meals and local transport are included in the fee.
