Japan | Hayama International Artist Residency 2026

Hayama Artist Residency is calling for applications from visual artists from around the world for a 4-week residency from 1 to 30 June 2026 in the small, coastal Japanese town of Hayama. 

The mission of Hayama Artist Residency is to introduce visual artists to Japanese culture and offer them an opportunity to have their first gallery exhibition in Japan. 

Hayama is a town in Kanagawa Prefecture, on central HonshÅ«, Japan. It is located at the northern end of Miura Peninsula, facing Sagami Bay on the Pacific Ocean. A key element of the Hayama Artist Residency is a group exhibition during the stay to highlight each artists’ work.

Selected artists will receive:

  • A roundtrip flight to Narita International Airport (Narita) or Tokyo International Airport (Haneda)
  • Shared accommodations with one other artist-in-residence for 4 weeks
  • A weekly allotment of 200 USD for meals and local transportation

There is an application fee for first time applicants.
