Indonesia | Pesta Boneka #10 International Puppet Biennale Festival call for artists

PESTA BONEKA #10: HOLDING HANDS, the independent international puppet biennale festival initiated by Papermoon Puppet Theatre in 2008, is calling for applications for the 10th edition in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 8–11 October 2025.
The theme of ‘HOLDING HANDS’ is intended to show a gesture of affection and support to each other. The festival believes that puppetry is a selfless medium that could be the bridge to communicate between people, and holding hands is a very much needed action.
In Pesta Boneka, artists will experience performances, workshops, lectures, sharing sessions, film screening and a session called ‘When Puppeteers Cook’.
PESTA BONEKA will provide:
- A Yogyakarta-standard per diem
- Meals, along the festival duration
- Transportation from Airport (or Station) to Venue and Venue to Airport (or Station)
- Shared accommodation for 6 days/5nights, for up to 6 people per group
- Technical support
- Full Festival Access to watch and experience another artist work
Artists will need to cover the costs of transportation to and from their country, visas, and any administrative requirements necessary before traveling to Yogyakarta.
