Guest magazine editors on craft and the ‘garden’
The Vessel, an online magazine about crafts and material culture, is calling for guest editor applications for the eleventh issue of The Vessel, with the theme ‘GARDEN’. The issue is part of a trio: ‘HOME’, ‘GARDEN’ and ‘STUDIO’, being published in 2025 and 2026, featuring different guest editors and contributors for each issue. ‘GARDEN’ is scheduled for publication in Spring 2026.
The Vessel welcomes editorial proposals that offer up a new way of looking at contemporary craft practices, in relation with the concept of a garden.
Proposal should have the following:
- Thematic Framework: Outline of vision for the issue in relation to the theme of ‘Garden’.
- Potential Contributors: List potential artists, writers, or other contributors
- Content Types: Specify the types of content (e.g., interviews, essays, articles, short films, sound pieces, visual essays/photo series).
- Focus on Norwegian crafts: Describe the highlight on the Norwegian or Norway-based contemporary crafts field.
The Vessel is an English-language publication, and candidates must be comfortable writing and editing in English. Candidates of any nationality are welcome, and no specific educational or professional qualifications are required although potential candidates should have an interest in contemporary crafts and material culture.
Guest editors will receive an honorarium, and all contributing writers/photographers will receive honorariums for their work in accordance with Kritikerlagets’ satser for kritikk.
