The Nicephone Niepce Museum in Chalon-sur-Saone is launching its second call for applications for the BMW 2012 Residency programme that invites a young photographer for a three-month residency taking place between September 10th to December 7th. The winner will be awarded a €6000 grant in addition to local accommodation costs.

The chosen artist is expected to produce work in collaboration with the museum's state-of-the-art photography laboratory, co-publish a book, and exhibit works during the Rencontres d'Arles festival. The production costs are covered by the programme, and three identical series of prints will be split between the artist, the museum's permanent collection, and BMW.

The application should be written in French or English and cannot exceed the A3 format in size. It should include:

  • a biography;

  • a portfolio presenting the artist's general approach;

  • a series of images as well as a selection of completed projects;

  • a brief description of the project to be carried out in Chalon-sur-Saone.

Letters of recommendation from professional photographers are also encouraged.

Application to be addressed to:
