We Are Museums 2018 | Morocco

We Are Museums is an international event which connects museum ecosystems to global expertise. Now reaching its 6th edition, We Are Museums 2018 will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, 7-9 May 2018. Participants in We Are Museums 2018 will be able to join a global audience of 300 participants, professionals, experts, entrepreneurs, artists and thinkers to shape bolder museums which are vital places for human dialogue, intersections for new encounters and agents of transformation. 2 days of talks, panels and workshops will involve 40 global speakers from diverse backgrounds. They will share their experience on bringing humans in museums through encounters, new relations, new experiences and spaces within and outside of the walls (Day 1) and on building stories and transmissions through museums’ tangible and intangible assets (Day 2). Finally, a day of urban discoveries and new connections will enable participants to choose a learning track and explore Marrakech through museums, the Medina, rejuvenated Moroccan riads, hybrid spaces, galleries, incubators and coworking spaces. We Are Museums thus invites participants to get out of their comfort zone, get (maybe) lost and find fresh ideas, practices and connections. Confirmed speakers include representatives from several ASEMUS member museums, including Eva Liparova, Product Manager, Victoria & Albert Museum, London; Liene Conard, Public, Education and Social Media, Museum aan de Stroom, Antwerp, Belgium; Katarzyna Maniak, researcher and exhibition coordinator at the Jagiellonian University and the National Museum in Kraków, Poland; Justyna Dominiak, Education Specialist, and Anastazja Stelmach, Head of the Communication Team at the National Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw, Poland; and Ewa Drygalska, Social Media and Digital Specialist at the National Museum in Warsaw, Poland. Many other international museums, including the Louvre Museum, Paris; Zeitz Mocca, South Africa; and Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam are also part of the programme. Overall, participants from over 25 countries are expected.
