Major contemporary Spanish art exhibition planned for Asia

Through an agreement between MACBA contemporary art museum in Barcelona, La Caixa Foundation and Acción Cultural Española, a major exhibition of contemporary Spanish art will travel to various Asian countries from 2012.

The exhibition Changing Times in Contemporary Spanish Art opens in autumn 2012, first visiting Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Manila (Philippines). It will later travel to China and Japan, and is due to contribute to celebrations of the Year of Spain in Japan in 2014.

The agreement betweeen MACBA and La Caixa links two of the major collections of Spanish art from the second half of the 20th century in a combined collection of over 5,500 works. Under the title Volume!, MACBA, the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, recently presented the first in a series of major exhibitions jointly organised with ”la Caixa” Foundation with the purpose of presenting different selections from amongst the 5,500 works in their combined collections.
