Japanese Film Festival Online 2024
The Japan Foundation holds its third edition of the Japanese Film Festival Online. A variety of 23 films will be delivered during the first two weeks, followed by two TV drama series for the subsequent two weeks, with the whole programme going from 5 June to 3 July 2024.
These will be streamed for free with subtitles in up to 16 languages, available in up to 27 countries/regions. There are also directors’ messages, talks and events in some countries/regions.
The films are available in many countries, including: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Lao PDR, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, and Viet Nam.
In 2016, The Japan Foundation, as part of the JFF Asia-Pacific Gateway Initiative, established the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) with the aim to share Japanese cinema with 10 ASEAN countries and Australia. They expanded to China and India in 2017, and then to Russia in 2018. In 2023, JFF was held in 10 countries with more than 120,000 participants.
