CNAM: Innovation in Scientific and Technical Museums | France

cnam-innovation-museums In the framework of its journal Cahiers d'histoire du Cnam, France's National Conservaoty of Arts and Crafts (CNAM) has recently published a special issue on innovation in scientific and technical museums. Entitled "Les musées scientifiques et techniques innovent: nouvelles expériences, nouvelles médiations", the publication contains several case studies of museums which have developed new approaches in areas including access and audience development. Among the examples presented are those of the Australian Museum and the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia, two ASEMUS members, in an article written by Gaëlle Crenn. Other articles address experiences from museums in France, Switzerland, Monaco and Ethiopia. The issue was coordinated by Rebecca Amsellem (Centre d'économie de la Sorbonne, Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne), Serge Chambaud (President, Association Française pour l’Avancement des Sciences, former Director, Museum of Arts and Crafts), and Dominique Poulot (HiCSA/Université Paris I Panthéon- Sorbonne). The publication, only available in French, can be downloaded for free at http://technique-societe.cnam.fr/les-musees-scientifiques-et-techniques-innovent--844764.kjsp?RH=cdhte
