The Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum

The Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum is a thriving 17.5-hectare landscape of art, nature, and community, home to thousands of native and international trees, to increase biodiversity and create habitat for native birds. 

Located in Tauwhare (Hamilton), the Sculpture Park is one of Aotearoa’s largest outdoor galleries, showcasing over 100 modern and traditional sculptures and installations that have been made either by New Zealand or international artists.

Art is viewed as a bridge between different perspectives and a non-threatening way to engage people with environmental issues. This approach is reflected in its programme of annual events, including Creative Play Weekend, during which families create art from natural materials, and Seeds of Renewal, which highlights ways of renewing, renovating, and restoring land, soil, and vegetation by teaching visitors how to use natural materials for creative ideas and propagating their own trees.
