Splore Festival

Splore Festival

Splore is Aotearoa’s longest-running music, arts, and camping festival, focused on delivering rich experiences across both music and the arts. Based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), the festival aims to explore how art can contribute to the festival setting, affect the audience’s sense of space and relationship to place and people, and create encounters that challenge thinking, behaviour, and beliefs.

A leader in festival sustainability in Aotearoa New Zealand, the festival operates on a zero-waste philosophy, aiming to send zero waste to landfill. Additionally, artworks using environmentally safer materials and methods are given priority in the festival programme.

The festival's practices are monitored and improved on by a dedicated sustainability manager, whose role is to identify friction points where the festival interacts with the environment, design initiatives that target these impacts, and aim for better outcomes.
