Pro Cultura Foundation

The Pro Cultura Foundation, established in 2003, was born from a strong need of having a Polish institution that could become a part of the international stream of cultural research

Culture, which is the scope of the foundation's interest, is gaining on importance in the field of economics and in a broader sense - of social modernisation. Pro Cultura Foundation wants to explore culture mainly as a factor of Poland's development and popularise the latest trends and the best solutions in the field of cultural management and financing of culture. Pro Cultura Foundation would like to emphasise the importance of constant monitoring of dependencies between culture - cultural policies - civil society. The shape of the contemporary civil society to a high extent depends on the cultural environment of the citizens and is beneficial for social cohesion.

Activities include:

  • conducting research, providing expertise and recommendations;
  • organising conferences, lectures, seminars, symposiums and workshops and the exchange of ideas and experiences;
  • preparing and consulting drafts of the legislation acts for the cultural sector;
  • elaborating and presenting new ideas contributing to working out problems in the sector of culture and its industries;
  • initiating public debates on culture and culture industries;
  • publishing works topically related to the Foundations' aims;
  • building a bridge between theory and practice and also the community of cultural policy-makers, artists, business people, and social partners.

The accepted formula (R+D) and the interdisciplinary approach which extends beyond departmental divisions characterise the research activities of the Foundation. The essential element of the Foundations' work is to include the trends of European research
