International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles - IASSRT
The International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles (IASSRT) is committed to the joint study and resources sharing of cultural heritage, including silk, other textile materials and techniques, and further enhancing the research level in related areas by cooperating with research agencies along the Silk Road and other related research institutes. IASSRT provides resource and intellectual support for the establishment of the Category 2 Center of “International Center for Silk Heritage on the Silk Roads” under the auspices of UNESCO by China National Silk Museum and takes a part in related fields of UNESCO in fostering intercultural dialogue, protecting, promoting and transmitting heritage, fostering creativity and the diversity of cultural expressions.
Membership of the IASSRTinternational association is open to organizations (including universities, museums, libraries, archaeology institutes, research institutes or groups) related to the studies of the Silk Roads, to establish a platform for cooperation in research and for general benefits of all participants, to share scientific and technological resources for research and conservation, to promote the adaptation and application of relevant technologies, and to enhance the dissemination and utilization of research findings.
IASSRT holds an annual international symposium, in 2017 in Lyon, France, 2018 in Korea and in 2019 in Kislovodsk, Russian Federation, with some travel grants offered for participation.
