The Hong Kong Film Directors Guild was formed in 1989 as a testament and tribute to that effort, that compulsion, that vision ad hominem, singular and beyond language, that essence of all creative expressions held and translated by its members, through the medium of film to give life, hope, joy and inspiration to humanity.

It is the Guild's zeitgeist to promote, defend and uphold that freedom of expression which is so vital to propagate both the highs and lows of civilization as introspections for all generations to come.
