Brick Bay
Brick Bay is a regenerative landscape in Matakana, Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), that combines a vineyard, sculpture trail, restaurant, gardens, and farm. It is guided by a vision to preserve and regenerate the landscape through sustainable practices, including a certified-sustainable vineyard, garden to table dining, regenerative agriculture on the farm, and art installations. Wetland restoration, water management, and predator control are key focus areas, as Brick Bay is a significant watershed close to the coast. These efforts have earned Brick Bay a Qualmark Gold certification for sustainable tourism.
The Brick Bay Sculpture Trail is a 2-km journey through native bush and open pastures, showcasing over 50 contemporary artworks. The Brick Bay Sculpture Trust supports New Zealand artists by providing interest-free loans to create large-scale works, fostering growth and innovation within the arts community. Though the artist's installations, Brick Bay creates dialogue about pertinent environmental issues.
