Desart

Desart is the non-profit association for over forty Central Australian Aboriginal art centres which are primarily community-based enterprises, owned and managed by Aboriginal people in their communities.

The Desart programme of activities is based on the principles of capacity building, better business practices, leadership and good governance across the three tiers of art centre operations – directors, art centre staff and artists. These principles are put into practice through professional development opportunities, accredited and non-accredited training, and tailored workshops with professional facilitators, building networks, support and mentoring.

Their team designs the Desart annual programme to anticipate and meet the needs of their members. They source input from our members face-to-face, via surveys and call-outs, they also draw on their collective industry expertise and extensive national and international professional networks to identify and deliver relevant new opportunities and find better ways to do things.
