Serendipity Arles Grant 2020 - lens-based artists in South Asia

A call for lens-based practitioners – Photography | Video | New Media. Selected practitioners from eligible countries of South Asia will have their work showcased at the Serendipity Arts Festival, with the finalist's work exhibited at the Rencontres d'Arles in France in 2022.

Serendipity Arts Foundation in collaboration with Rencontres d’Arles announces Serendipity Arles Grant 2020 supported by the French Institute in India. The Grant of INR 12,00,000 (approximately EUR 15,000)* supports lens-based practitioners from the South Asian region. Ten shortlisted candidates will be showcased at the forthcoming edition of Serendipity Arts Festival. The finalist will have the opportunity to exhibit at Rencontres d’Arles, France in 2022.

Eligibility

Submissions are open to all lens-based practitioners from the South Asian region – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan & Sri Lanka.

Submissions are open to projects produced by collectives, duos and collaborations.

Applicants must be residents of countries mentioned above, for at least 5 years or more, and practising for the same amount of time.

Age – up to 45 years (as of announcement date)

The call is open to projects in progress. Applicants must submit supporting documents to outline the progress.

The proposed project should not have been shown in any form; in whole or in part, before the submission.

The grant will have two phases –

Phase I
Will support 10 artists with a grant amount INR 70,000/- (approximately EUR 800)* each along with an opportunity to showcase at the forthcoming edition of Serendipity Arts Festival.

Phase II
Will support 1 artist out of the 10 with a grant amount of INR 12,00,000 (approximately EUR 15,000)* to develop their project for Rencontres d’Arles, France in 2022.
