Dancing with Fire: Technology, Performance, Objects, Environments symposium at Dublin Dance Festival 2012 - a call for proposals on the dynamics of creating performances that fuse art and technology from performing arts practitioners and researchers.

The aim of the symposium on May 23 2012 is to encourage dialogue between performing arts makers and researchers who are particularly interested in or involved in exploring the shifting and exciting dynamics of creating performances that fuse art and technology. Submissions are sought for papers and performance demonstrations from practitioners, researchers, graduates and students.

The organisers hope to encourage greater understanding between practioners and academics and promote further interest in the collaborations that can grow between dance and the performing arts and the newest technologies.

CONTEXT:

The Arts and Technology Research Lab (ATRL)and the Digital Arts and Humanities Programme have come together with Dublin Dance Festival to explore the vibrant confluence of ideas generated by making performing arts in a digitally enabled world.

The ATRL is an interdisciplinary, postgraduate research centre of the School of Drama, Film and Music at Trinity College, Dublin, designed to explore the emergent fields of creative art practice and new technologies.
