GoCritic! Training programme for European film journalists and critics

The Animation Festival Network (AFN) is calling for applications from emerging European film journalists and critics for the GoCritic!@AFN training programme, to be held in Liberec, Czech Republic, from 7 to 12 May 2024.

GoCritic! aims to train a new generation of authors writing about cinema on an international level. The main objective is to improve their skills of writing about cinema through practical work. 

The workshop sessions will be conducted in English by acclaimed film critic and GoCritic! Head of Studies Vladan Petković and they will take place during the Anifilm International Festival of Animated Films. The workshop will have flexible hours as agreed with the mentor; participants will be available to participate at film screenings and training sessions during the entire duration of the festival.

A selection of the participants' articles will be published on Cineuropa and Zippy Frames and disseminated on the Anifilm webpage as well.

Applications are open to those over 18 years old who are able to communicate and write in English.

What is provided?

Successful applicants will be provided with press accreditations, access to all screenings, and access to social and industry events, press conferences, and parties. For participants living outside Liberec organisers will cover accommodation and will cover partially travel expenses.
