Creative responses to Southeast Asian exhibitions
Art & Market’s (A&M) initiative ‘Creative Edit’ is calling for proposals of a creative written response to an ongoing exhibition that features Southeast Asian artists and themes.
In this open call, A&M are looking for inventive texts that add a literary interpretive layer to the exhibition, or act as a reimagination of the curatorial gestures embedded in the presentation. A&M invites submissions of ekphrasis, lyric pieces, poetry, microfiction and creative non-fiction.
Eligibility:
- A&M welcomes microfiction, creative non-fiction, and lyric pieces of up to 1,000 words. Poetry and ekphrasis are to be limited to a maximum of 100 lines on an A4 document.
- Participants of all ages and from any location are eligible to participate in the open call, provided the entries are original, and have not been previously published.
- Exhibitions chosen for the creative response should have a strong connection to Southeast Asia, either featuring Southeast Asian artists, or engage with the contexts of Southeast Asia.
- If there are non-English phrases or if the work is a translation from a non-English language, please include both the original language script, as well as a translation in English. The work will be considered based on the English translation.
