Berlin | transmediale Digital Art Residency 2025

Transmediale, in cooperation with the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, is calling for applications from visual artists, cultural practitioners, designers, and sound artists for the third iteration of the Digital Art Residency.

Who can apply?

It will be awarded to two persons working in the field of digital art practices, design, sound, media theory, with Swiss nationality or a permanent residence in Switzerland who are firmly established in the Swiss cultural scene. The call is open to all formats, with a focus on research-based practices.

Applications from duos or collectives are welcome, however the fee remains the same and needs to be split accordingly.

What is the timeline?

The residency will be kicked off during transmediale festival in January 2025. The residents should be present in Berlin for the festival week. 

The hybrid residency takes place over two months remotely and on-site in Berlin at transmediale studio between May and July 2025. The residency month in Berlin takes place in June 2025 and is framed by two weeks of remote work in both May and July. 

During the on-site period of the residency, the residents will present their work in a public event as part of transmediale’s year-round studio programme. transmediale also offers the possibility of an online publication through its journal. 

What support is provided?

Each resident will be awarded with an artist fee of 2,250 EUR per month plus per diem for the month in Berlin, and travel and accommodation for the festival and residency.
