Balinale international film festival call for entries

Balinale - the Bali International Film Festival - is celebrating its 12th anniversary from 24-30 September 2018.  Film submissions invited on the theme: ‘Timeless’. The organisers aim to select films that have an extraordinary ability to communicate the largest of human stories as well as the briefest moments of world changing emotion.

Since the 1930's, the geographically and culturally diverse island of Bali has inspired the creative, artistic and spiritual with its unique traditional cultural and colorful ceremonial life. Bali International Film Festival, also known and registered as Balinale, invites international filmmakers to present their work to a discerning audience that's a wonderful mix of locals and expatriates from across the globe.

Recognized internationally for the diversity of its programming consisting of Indonesian and international independent and award winning fiction, documentary, feature and short films, it is also credited for the quality of the associated events where filmmakers enjoy Balinale's relaxed and familiar manner informally meeting to discuss films, trends and the demands of a growing fast paced industry.

Film submissions from all genres of fiction and documentary, feature length and short, from Indonesia and around the world are accepted through Filmfreeway & Withoutabox.

Balinale has a juried competition with three categories, Best Feature Film, Best Documentary and Best Short Subjects, In addition to the Festival’s annual audience choice awards.

Submissions Grant for Indonesian Filmmakers

Balinale is dedicated to support local filmmakers by waiving submission fees for Indonesians giving them the opportunity to show their films to an international audience, attend workshops and meet filmmakers from all over the world. Note all film projects submitted must have English subtitles. To request a Waiver Grant, please fill in this form

For all non-Indonesian Submission Fee Waiver requests, we will only consider them between Monday 21 May and Friday 1 June 2018. Emails sent to WaiverRequest@balinale.com during those dates will receive a reply. World Premieres and Award Winners are given priority.
