The 2018 Asian Side of the Doc Call for Projects is open to submissions until December 11, 2017 – so don’t miss out on financing for your documentary! Submit your projecto get a chance to meet with buyers, commissioners and investors from major broadcasters, digital platforms and foundations from Asia and beyond.

The Asian Side of the Doc is the international marketplace for documentary and factual content in Asia. It takes place in Bangkok 30 January - 2 February 2018.

We are looking for strong projects in advanced development stage, with appeal to Asian broadcasters, co-producers or other funders. They can be one-offs, series, mini-series or short formats. Transmedia/interactive projects are also accepted.

*** Projects looking for local or regional partners in Asia for production, or on-site shooting will be particularly considered by the jury.

To accelerate their production, projects selected for the pitching competition would be provided with pre-organized one-to-one meetings with international funding and creative executives, for critical guidance, and for creative and financial discussions.

Submissions should be on following themes, based on the Asian factual market demands:









  • Human Interest & Social Issues


  • Nature, Science & Environment


  • History, Archeology & Heritage


  • Discovery & Lifestyle (Fashion, Gastronomy, Travel…)




Selection Requirements and Process:



  • Your project has to be in advanced development. You can be already in production or in postproduction, if you are still looking for finishing funds.

  • A 2-4 minutes trailer with English subtitles is mandatory

  • Proof of the confirmed participation of at least one partner: broadcaster, distributor, supporting fund, foundation, crowdfunding, new platforms, museums, brands…

  • Your project has to be in advanced development. You can be already in production or in postproduction, if you are still looking for finishing funds.
