Lao PDR | Meeting Point on Art and Social Action in Asia 2025
The next Meeting Point on Art and Social Action in Asia, organised by the Mekong Cultural Hub, is taking place in Vientiane, Lao PDR, from 16–18 October 2025.
The theme for the 2025 Meeting Point on Art and Social Action is ‘Building Bridges’. Together with the local hosts in Vientiane, Mekong Cultural Hub wants this Meeting Point to open up new pathways for connecting the local Laos arts scene and practitioners, organisers and policymakers from elsewhere in Asia.
More broadly the Mekong Cultural Hub wants to consider what bridges we in the arts, culture and society space need to be building with other sectors. What relationships do we need to work on so that we can see arts on the agenda for development, the economy and sustainability across the region? What do we need to learn and to change, so that we can build new partnerships? The Meeting Point continues to offer space for practitioners to build their own bridges with each other, and to find time and space for connecting with new friends.
There will be a welcome reception from the Laos’ hosts on 15 October, and a cultural tour programme integrated into day 2 of the programme, where participants will have the chance to visit local artists and arts spaces, including the exhibitions within the Lao Art Week programme, and to understand the context of Laos’ arts sector more deeply.
