The latest edition of the Jakarta Biennale is built around the theme "Maximum City: Survive and Escape" and invites Indonesian and international artists to reflect on the problems that define Jakarta's urban life. The event attempts to stimulate art practices and discourses in Indonesia notably by engaging with members of the public in outdoor areas. The works that are presented at the Biennale are from a new generation of artists who work in multidisciplinary ways using multimedia and interactive technology. Through their work, they share their perspectives on Jakarta City and the local people. Jakarta Biennale XIV is conceived to encourage people from different backgrounds to experience, learn, and appreciate contemporary art.
