The International Museum Construction Congress will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, between 13 and 15 November 2016. The event is designed for architects, museum professionals and service providers who are in involved in museum renovation, new construction and expansion projects.

In the course of the Congress, all phases of a project will be discussed, using in-depth case studies by museum professionals experienced with these types of projects along with architects, project managers and a variety of other service professionals. Attention will be paid to the planning process, design, funding, budgeting, project scope, construction, re-opening, occupancy and evaluation of museum construction projects, among others.

Among the examples that will be examined in the course of the International Museum Construction Congress are those of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (an ASEMUS member), the Rijksmuseum, the NeMo Science Center, the National Library of Scotland and the Bulgarian National Gallery. The agenda of the Congress also includes a presentation of the book Cities, Museum and Soft Power by its authors, Gail Lord and Ngaire Blankenberg. Congress attendees will also be able to tour a number of museums, including the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rijksmuseum, The Kunsthal, Het Nieuwe Institut - Centre for Architecture and Design and Wereldmuseum Rotterdam. In particular, the third day of the Congress will involve a trip to Rotterdam, including a presentation of the past and present of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen as well as guided visits to several local museums and cultural institutions.
