Indonesia: Creative Producers Initiative Network

The Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) is supporting a Satellite Meeting in collaboration with the 10th edition of the Indonesian Dance Festival (IDF) from the 14th - 20th of June in Jakarta and Yogjakarta. This event in Indonesia will be the culmination of a series of meetings that the International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts (IETM) has held annually in Asia since 2005 (in Singapore, Beijing-Shanghai, Seoul, Gwangju, Tokyo).

The meeting seeks to create an alliance that encourages 'creative producing' for independent dance/theatre stakeholders in Asia and Europe. An independent structure, functioning with limited information and resources, should be encouraged to share and enlarge their resources with partners sensitive to specificities of artistic contexts and cultural differences.

A collaboration between IETM and IDF, the meeting will include a number of working sessions and seminars highlighting case studies presenting Asians and Europeans with current challenges and relevant issues. It will compare 'best practices', and where possible, follow-up threads of cooperation identified in earlier IETM meetings in Asia. Participants will also visit artists’ rehearsal studios, observe works in progress and discuss artists’ intentions, evolutions, challenges and inspirations.
